- Scanned the modules for codes – received P0017 (exhaust camshaft not plausible Bank 1). Following the diagnostic flow chart we checked the engine oil – was low over a quart. We topped the oil off. Cleared the code and ran the vehicle – on the second key cycle the code reset. We moved the exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoids from one bank to the other. Cleared the code and ran the engine – code reset. Attempted to relearn the camshaft/crankshaft correlation – will not allow. Recommend replacing the timing chains. Ok'd to proceed. After repairs we test drove the vehicle several times – ran properly and no codes set. .
- Installed new timing chains and guides. Reassembled with new gaskets and seals. Refilled with fresh antifreeze and bled the cooling system. .
