- Hoisted for inspection. Verified both front axle output shaft seals are leaking on the transfer case. Checked fluid in the transfer case – was almost empty and has sludge built up in the bottom of the case. Filled with fresh fluid and test drove – transfer case is still making noise. Recommend replacing the transfer case. Ok'd to proceed. After repairs we test drove again – we get a bit of road noise but the transfer case is quiet. .
- Installed new transfer case with new transmission mating seal, and new exhaust gaskets. While the catalytic converter was out we noted it is starting to break apart internally – several pieces fell out, customer declined replacement at this time. Once reassembled filled transfer case with new lube and topped off the transmission fluid. .
